Taurens Made Real!

All Horde players rejoice! The first living World of Warcraft horde race is alive in Europe. Well at least it was for 3 days. The scientists, who created the “Taurens“, will not let the embryos of the hordies live more than 14 days, for ethical reasons. The scientist hope the embryos, made by injecting human (Alliance) DNA into the eggs of cows, will help them (the Alliance scientists) find cures for a multitude of illnesses.
Early in 2000, according to a Reuters article, Greenpeace of Germany brought to public attention a patent from a company that” allegedly” showed that they had placed human DNA into the eggs of a pig. The embryos were said to have survived a week. That's two examples of Alliance atrocities towards the Horde.
The human Catholic Church has expressed outrage at the experiment, according to the BBC News. Representatives of the Horde have not yet released a statement.

One wonders if the Horde is conducting similar experiments in the Undercity.

The end o' the World

They say life is stranger than fiction and I have recently found this to be true. I just finished a book last week; the book’s title is "Blasphemy", written by Douglas Preston. You may know the author from the novel "Relic" and the Movie derived from it, "The Relic-1997". "Blasphemy" deals with the creation of a large particle collider in the US, similar to Europe's CERN project. One of the issues the story brings up is that there is a possibility that while conducting these experiments, a mini-black hole could be created. This Black hole would then gravitate to the earth's core and begin devouring all the matter of the planet we call home. The story has other interesting story lines, and I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It reminded me of "Angels and Demons" written by Dan Brown author of "The Davinci Code". "Angels and Demons" also has a story line that deals with CERN/particle colliders. It is also a very good book, and should be read before "The Davinci Code", for it is the prequel.
Why is this strange? This week, a lawsuit was filed in Hawaii's U.S. District Court, concerning the same issues raised in the book. The claimants fear black holes, strange forms of matter and other things that could destroy the world. I found this story at http://www.kurzweilai.net/, one of my favorite sites. The full story is available at: http://cosmiclog.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/03/27/823924.aspx. I am a fan of all the 2012 end of the world scenarios; I guess this gives me another one to add to the list. )
